Technology firms create high-paying jobs and attract capital investment. They have a large and positive impact on the economy and quality of life in the communities where they are located.

Communities that pursue technology-led economic development strategies employ two synergistic approaches: they recruit technology companies to their region; and they create home-grown technology ventures.

Missouri Innovation Center supports the creation of new, high-growth ventures, particularly those with a technology component. This is accomplished by leveraging research and innovation by and with the University of Missouri for the benefit of the region and the State.

Missouri Innovation Center's programs fall into the following categories

• Stimulating technology entrepreneurship
• Opportunity assessment (the technology, the market and the management team)
• Planning, financing and accomplishing research and development
• Developing the business plan and securing startup funding and growth capital
• Incubating the ventures that result (mentoring and physically accommodating startup firms).
