About us:
MIC is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that was established in 1984 with initial funding from the State of Missouri. Its purpose is economic development through creation and incubation of innovative high-growth ventures. MIC's goal is to grow the life science and technology industry cluster in mid-Missouri.
MIC has an affiliation agreement with the University of Missouri (MU). MIC is treated as a unit of the Office of Research and is hosted and supported financially by the Trulaske College of Business. MIC provides new venture creation support to all of the Colleges, Centers and units of the campus, while also providing technology entrepreneurship support throughout the mid-Missouri Region.
MIC is a designated Innovation Center in the network of such centers recognized by Missouri's Department of Economic Development and overseen by the Missouri Technology Corporation. MIC is a partner in the University of Missouri EDA University Center.
MIC is also a designated Small Business Incubation Center approved under Missouri's tax code. Contributions to MIC for incubator construction are eligible for a 50% Missouri tax credit under the State of Missouri Small Business Incubator Tax Credit Program.
Note: 50% Missouri tax credits valid for five years and fully transferable are available to companies, individuals and non-profit entities that contribute to the Missouri Innovation Center for construction of the life science business incubator.
